The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued its new 2025 visa policy, where nationals of Nigeria, India, Ghana, Turkey, and 103 other countries will need to acquire a visa before entry into the Arabian country.

The latest list of visa requirements embraces several countries in South Asia, Africa, and Latin America, including Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Nigeria, the Philippines, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Atop the affected countries are Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Philippines, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Turkey, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Palau, Samoa and Tuvalu.

A report also indicated that the latest UAE visa list is in line with the Arabian country’s orderly immigration policy, which ensures security and travel requirements are put in place before foreign visitors’ arrival.

Temporary ban on tourist, work visas to 9 countries

Besides the long list of countries affected by the new immigration policy, the UAE has also placed a temporary ban on tourist and work visas for nine countries.

They include Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Cameroon, Liberia, the Republic of Benin, Congo, and Burundi.

Emphasising the rationale for the latest immigration policy revision, it was also gathered that the UAE’s new policy 2025 visa is a move to strike a balance between the country’s security and economic growth.

This measure is said to have been taken to minimise fraud, make the visa approval process transparent, and verify international visitors’ data accurately.

It is equally noted that as a global business and tourism hub, several millions of individuals travel to the UAE annually for work, business, and leisure, and the new visa policy has been launched to streamline this process, report stated.

The new prohibition shall extend to both tourist as well as work visas, though in accordance with the UAE authorities, the same is a short-term measure that can be altered in the future following a policy review.

The following procedures have been laid down for nationals of visa-required countries when applying for visas:

Visa applicants are urged to apply in advance via UAE embassies or designated visa centre with passport validity that should be six months or more.

They are also advised to be cautious when dealing with immigration agents who promise “instant approval” because instances of visa fraud have been noted to rise.

Applicants are advised to monitor official Emirati sources to stay up to date with any new developments in the new UAE visa policy.
