Safety Alert: Coca-Cola recalls Coke, Zero Sugar Coke and Sprite cans over hazardous metal fragments (Full List)

Coca-Cola, a leading global beverages conglomerate, is recalling about 70,000 select cans of Coke, Coke Zero Sugar and Sprite after metal fragments were discovered during routine quality checks in the United States (US).

ConsumerConnect gathered that the current product recall is due to a foreign matter contamination, specifically metal fragments that pose a laceration or illness for product consumers.

Report also indicated the affected packs which were sold in Texas, in the US, included 12-, 24- and 35-packs respectively.

Affirming the development, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated there’s an active recall on the three types of Coca-Cola soda in Texas, due to a foreign matter contamination, agency report said.

According to FDA, the following UPC and lot codes are affected by this recall:

  1. Coca-Cola Zero Sugar (12-pack) with UPC 49000042559 and lot code FEB0226MAA
  2. Coca-Cola Zero Sugar (35-pack) with UPC 49000058499 and lot code FEB0226MAA
  3. Coca-Cola (24-pack) with UPC 49000012781 and lot code JUN2926MAA
  4. Coca-Cola (35-pack) with UPC 49000058468 and lot code JUN2926MAA
  5. Sprite (35-pack) with UPC 49000058482 and lot code JUN2926MAA
  6. Sprite (12-pack) with UPC 49000028928 and lot code JUN2926MAA or JUN3026MAB

It was also learnt that as this recall currently only impacts retailers in Texas, it might expand, and it is already affecting well over 70,000 cans of Coca-Cola products across the state. The drinks may contain metal fragments, posing a laceration or illness hazard for consumers.

This recall was just classified as a Class II, meaning that the affected soda might lead to minor, temporary health problems in product consumers.

FDA advised “if you are showing any signs of illness or injury after drinking one of these beverages, talk to a healthcare provider immediately.
