No adulteration in copies of gazetted Tax Reforms Acts, insists Akpabio

Making a clarification concerning the hitherto sweeping allegations of alterations in the gazetted Tax Acts, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, gave the clean bill of health during plenary, in Abuja.

Akpabio maintained that the passed and signed Tax Acts currently in the custody of the National Assembly are exactly the versions passed by both Chambers, and signed into law by President Tinubu.

Senate President insistently dismissed some widespread claims in certain quarters that the Acts altered after passage.

He emphasised that Certified True Copies (CTCs) of the Tax Acts held by the Senate and the House of Representatives accurately reflect what lawmakers approved at the time.

In a move to buttress his claim and reflect transparency that no alterations in the gazetted documents in the custody of the Federal Legislature, it was gathered that Akpabio directed Emmanuel Odo, Clerk of the Senate, to distribute Certified True Copies of the Tax Acts to all Senators for scrutiny and confirmation.

Akpabio also assured distinguished Senators that “Copies of the Acts will be made available to all Senators by the Clerk of the Senate.

“The copies of the Acts are totally in compliance with what happened in the two chambers. No adulteration, nothing.

He asserted: “At this stage, you (Senators) can feel bold enough to discard anything to the contrary, knowing that it is not what the President signed and does not represent what you passed.”
