Lagos distributes cash palliative to 2nd batch of victims of Badagry rainstorm

*Residents commend Lagos State on recent approval of 5 major projects in the area

In fulfilment of its pledge to protect the lives of Lagosians and compensate residents affected by the recent rainstorm disaster in Badagry, the Lagos State Government (LASG) has presented cash palliative to the second batch of 21 beneficiary-households.

The cash support, according to the LASG, ranged from N200,000 to 500,000.

Mr. Hodewu Suru Avoseh, a Commissioner at the Lagos State Civil Service Commission and an indigene of Badagry, at the presentation ceremony, said the cash distribution was in realisation of the present administration’s promise to protect the lives of Lagosians and compensate the affected residents of the area.

Avoseh expressed joy for witnessing and participating in the presentation of the cash support to the 21 families at the event, held in the Town Hall of Badagry Local Government Council of Lagos State.

He commended the present administration for alleviating his people’s sufferings and for the recent approval of five major projects in the area which included the dualisation of Aradagun to Gbakon Road junction.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), on the occasion said besides the speedy reconstruction of the devastated communities, the State Government also made various cash donations  through the Agency to affected residents, depending on the level of damage suffered in the incident.

While thanking the State Government for supporting the victims, Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu implored residents to remain calm and peaceful, promising that all the victims would receive their payments in batches.

Chief Sedowhe Francis, Baale of Iragon-Thogili, on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for government’s prompt response to the plight of his people through LASEMA.
