The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), in Nigeria, has condoled with Mr. Gabriel Akinadewo, Publisher of Freedom Online and member of the Guild, over the passing of his son, Washington Oluwagbemiga.

GOCOP, Monday, December 29, 2025, expressed condolences in a letter signed by its President, Mr. Danlami Nmodu, mni, President, and Sufuyan Ojeifo, General Secretary.

Olugbemiga died Sunday, December 28, 2025, in Lagos, at a private hospital following a brief illness.

The Executives of the Guild also described Oluwagbemiga’s death as saddening and tragic.

It stated that his passing is a huge loss to his family and friends.

The Guild in the condolences as well urged the Akinadewo family to take solace in the focused and productive life their late son lived.

The letter further stated: “Washington’s life, though cut short, was a testament to his potential and promise.

“His impending National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in January 2026, consequent upon his graduation from the University of Lagos, where he studied Information Technology, was a milestone that symbolised his dedication to scholarship and nation-building.”

The Guild wrote: “His passing is a profound loss to your family, the online publishing community, and the nation at large.

“In this dark hour, we find solace in the memories of Washington’s life, his accomplishments, and the legacy he leaves behind.”

It stated: “May these memories bring you comfort and strength, and may the Almighty God grant you, your wife, and loved ones the fortitude to navigate this difficult time.”

The GOCOP executives prayed for the repose of Oluwagbemiga’s soul and for God’s protection over his family and loved ones.

The deceased has since been buried.
