Insecurity: NAF destroys IED facility, neutralises several terrorists in Zamfara

*The Nigerian Air Force strikes targeted terrorists’ enclave in Zamfara State, with sustained intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance resulting in significant human activity, and an operational zinc-roofed structure assessed to be central to the enclave’s operations

The Nigerian Air Force’s strikes have targeted terrorists’ enclave, and killed several of them in the latest offensive against them in Zamfara State.

ConsumerConnect gathered the NAF delivered the two high-impact precision airstrikes Sunday, December 28, at Turba Hill, a confirmed bandit hideout, and at Kachalla Dogo Sule’s camp, a notorious bandit stronghold identified as a key hub for IED manufacturing and operations in the state.

The NAF strikes destroyed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) factory in the Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA) of the North-West state.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Spokesperson of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), who disclosed this development Monday, December 28, said the operatives deployed air assets against identified terrorist locations after multi-source, credible intelligence confirmed their presence and activities.

Ejodame stated: “The first strike targeted Turba Hill, a confirmed bandit hideout.”

He also noted that sustained intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance revealed significant human activity and an operational zinc-roofed structure assessed to be central to the enclave’s operations.

The NAF Spokesperson said following identification, the operatives’ target was engaged with precision, resulting in a direct hit.

A post-strike battle damage assessment confirmed the destruction of the structure and the neutralisation of several bandits during the operation.

“The second AI mission was conducted at Kachalla Dogo Sule’s Camp, a notorious bandit stronghold identified as a key IED manufacturing and operational hub. “Intelligence had linked the camp to the planning and execution of recent IED attacks along the Dan Sadau–Magami axis,” stated he.

Ejodame noted that the precision strike successfully engaged multiple active structures within the enclave, which he said triggered intense fires that destroyed the facilities and neutralised several bandits, “effectively crippling the group’s IED production and deployment capability.”

He equally averred that the “decisive” air strikes represented a “significant degradation” of terrorist networks operating in Zamfara State, particularly their capacity to manufacture and employ improvised explosive devices.
