Sequel to his recent allegation of corruption practices involving illegal spending of public funds, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President/Chief Executive (CE) of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), has filed a petition against Engr. Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The ICPC, which confirmed this development disclosed it received a petition from Dangote against the Chief Executive Officer of The Authority.

Industry observers said Dangote’s move might have intensified an ongoing trade dispute between Dangote Petroleum Refinery operations, and NMDPRA as the regulatory body tasked with overseeing the petroleum sector of the Nigerian economy.

John Odey, Spokesperson of ICPC, in a statement Tuesday, December 15, 2025, said anti-graft agency earlier received Dangote’s petition against Ahmed through his lawyer.

Odey stated: “The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to confirm that it received a formal petition today, Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from Alhaji Aliko Dangote through his lawyer.

“The petition is against the CEO of the NMDPRA, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed,” the commission said.

The ICPC added that the petition would be subjected to due investigation.”

It was gathered that Dangote’s petition dated and submitted December 16 through his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja, SAN, Dangote pointedly accused the NMDPRA CEO of corruption and misuse of public funds.

The President/CE of Dangote Group, among other allegations raised in the petition, has alleged that Farouk spent over $7 million in public funds on his four children’s education at elite Swiss schools, with fees paid upfront for up to six years.

It stated: “That Engr. Farouk Ahmed spent without evidence of lawful means of income humongous amount of money of over 7 million dollars of public funds, for the education of his four children in different schools in Switzerland for a period of six years upfront.”

According to Dangote, this expenditure lacks evidence of lawful income sources and constitutes embezzlement, diversion of funds, and abuse of office.

Dangote, therefore, urged the anti-graft regulatory Commission to act decisively by investigating the allegations against Farouk and prosecuting him, if found culpable.

The petition noted that the claim is already in the public domain in Nigeria.
