Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos State Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, has urged Nigerian youths to take full ownership of the West African country’s digital transformation drive.

Ogunlende emphasised that Nigerian youths must move from simply using technology to actively creating it.

The Commissioner said: “Don’t wait for the future; build it. Don’t just consume technology; create it.”

He also encouraged young Nigerians to position themselves as innovators and leaders in the country’s evolving digital space.

Ogunlende’s remarks are contained in a statement Samuel Oladokun, Convener of Web3 in Motion, issued and made available to reporters Friday, November 14, 2025, in Lagos.

Oladokun said the Commissioner’s message highlighted the essential role young Nigerians must play in shaping the country’s digital future.

The event, held in Lagos with the theme: “Web3 in Motion: From Pipelines to Platforms”, attracted speakers and participants from government, decentralised finance, regulation, and community development.

Oladokun, popularly known as XeusTheGreat and Founder of Nirvana Academy, said the theme underscored the need for Africans to take the lead in the global digital economy.

“Excellence is what puts you on global platforms,” he said, urging participants to prioritise collaboration, innovation, and education beyond profit-making.

“You can’t build a global platform in isolation. You have to step out, physically and digitally,” he added.

The conference featured over 30 speakers and exhibitors across several sectors, including government, decentralised finance, regulation, and community development.

Among the speakers were the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. Emomotimi Agama; Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jeroid, Jeremiah Mayowa; Co-founder of Hyperbridge, Seun Lanlege; and Mobile Engineer at Cake Wallet, David Adegoke.

Agama urged participants to strengthen their technical capacity and legal literacy, adding that the government remained committed to building a globally recognised digital economy.

“Learn to code solidly, study digital laws, and understand decentralised finance,” he said.

The event was coordinated by a five-member organising team led by Oladokun. Other members included Sarah Idahosa (Programmes Director), Idris Olubisi (Partnership Director), Amarachi Nwachukwu (Marketing Lead), Oreoluwa Zebulun Ajayi (Creative Director), and Obembe Oluwatobiloba (Logistics Lead).
