Security Alert: Delta Police uncover pistol hidden in suspected armed robber’s bread

Sequel to a routine stop-and-search operation, the Delta State Police Command, in Delta State, South-South Nigeria, has arrested certain Stanley Chibuike, a suspected armed robber, who reportedly concealed a pistol in a loaf of bread.

SP Bright Edafe, Spokesperson of the Police Command, revealed this development in a statement issued at the weekend, in Asaba, Delta State capital.

Edafe stated: “On November 6, 2025, the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Delta State Command, while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka Roundabout, Asaba, intercepted a young man whose suspicious behaviour prompted a thorough search.

“In the course of the search, a fabricated Beretta pistol was discovered carefully concealed inside a loaf of bread.”

The statement also noted: “The suspect, later identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, 24, was immediately arrested and taken into custody.

“The recovered weapon has been secured as an exhibit, while an investigation is ongoing to ascertain his possible connection with incidents of armed robbery and kidnapping within the Asaba metropolis and adjoining communities.”

The Delta State Command’s Spokesperson further said CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, Commissioner of Police in the state, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism.

CP Abaniwonda described the discovery as proof of the Command’s sustained intelligence-driven operations.

The Commissioner of Police restated the Command’s resolve to identify, arrest, and prosecute criminal elements regardless of their tactics.

Urging residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information, Abaniwonda assured that all reports would be treated with confidentiality, noted the statement
