Broadband: Coleman’s new largest fibre optic cable factory will boost Nigeria Digital Economy –Ministers

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed the West African country is firmly on a path to collective progress and shared prosperity in the comity of nations.

ConsumerConnect reports Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), said this Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in Sagamu, Ogun State, at the formal launch of the largest fibre optic cable factory in Africa, by Coleman Technical Industries Limited (CTIL) Phase II.

Tijani stated that Nigeria has just witnessed one of those fine moments in the annals of its industrial growth and development with the formal launch of the largest fibre optic cable factory in Africa by Coleman Technical Industries Limited, which also was celebrating 50 years of remarkable excellence in cable manufacturing in the real sector of the economy.

Tijani: Launch of facility a boost to Project BRIDGE, others

Linking the company’s feat to the mileage it offers digital economy projects across the country, Dr. Tijani in a statement posted on his verified social media account, said Nigerians could only imagine his excitement at “the launch of this new and impressive facility, considering our ongoing effort to deploy 90,000 kilometres of fibre optic network across Nigeria through Project BRIDGE.”

The Minister also explained the establishment of a factory capable of manufacturing this critical component of the global digital economy right here in Nigeria, and by a local company, is “a truly significant milestone and the timing could not be more perfect.”

According to him, the newly-commissioned fibre optic cable factory will not only support the fibre needs of Project BRIDGE, but also serve as a continental hub, supplying similar infrastructure projects across the African continent in the years ahead.

Tijani, therefore, expressed heartfelt congratulations to the Chairman, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and the entire Management and Staff of Coleman Technical Industries Limited for their vision and commitment to the country’s industrial growth.

He especially recognised Governor (Prince) Dapo Abiodun, CON, of Ogun State for making the state one of the most attractive destinations for investors and industries in Nigeria.

The Minister equally noted: “To His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, I express deep appreciation for his visionary leadership, setting Nigeria the ambitious target of becoming a $1 trillion economy and backing it up with bold, deliberate reforms.

“A new Nigeria is, indeed, emerging that is being built by those who believe in her potential, invest in her people, and produce proudly within her borders.”

Speaking on the occasion also, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Honourable Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI), said the official launch of Coleman’s fibre optic cable factory Wednesday, marked the company’s 50 years of “disciplined Nigerian manufacturing”.

Toeing Tijani’s line, Oduwole as well remarked that the company’s expansion would strengthen the backbone of the Nigeria Digital Economy.

She noted the project would also widen Broadband, enabling smart industry, and creating quality jobs while positioning Nigeria as a reliable AfCFTA supplier, conserving FX, and advancing technology sovereignty in the digital ecosystem.

The Minister asserted: “Coleman’s story is also one of legacy: a seamless generational transition anchored on governance, skills transfer, and local content proof that ‘Made-in-Nigeria’. “
