The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has mandated all courier and delivery service providers to use reflective jackets and visibility tapes during evening and night-time hours across the state.

ConsumerConnect reports the Lagos State Government’s (LASG) directive to the courier service providers is in regard to its commitment to improved road safety, risks of accidents involving dispatch riders.

Mr. Oluwatobi Idowu, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Lagos Governor on Transport Education and Innovation, in a statement said Mr. Olawale Musa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, instructed all riders operating between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. to wear reflective jackets.

The Ministry also directed all delivery motorcycles and bicycles to be fitted with reflective tapes or markers to ensure clear visibility on the roads.

The statement further noted the Lagos Government urged delivery companies to sensitise their riders and ensure strict compliance.

The government stressed this is to avoid sanctions from designated enforcement agencies, including the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS).
