Telecoms: NCC, CRDCU Office move to deepen Broadband connectivity, consumer protection

As part of efforts at addressing critical industry challenges, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to improve telecoms service quality, consumer experience and satisfaction, as well as the regulatory measures for marked development of the sector.

ConsumerConnect reports Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of NCC, noted this when he and his Management team visited the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU) office, in Abuja, FCT, recently.

The telecoms sector regulatory Commission said Dr. Maida disclosed the meeting with Ms. Hadiza Bala-Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination at the CRDCU Office, reviewed the entire state of Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.

The NCC also noted the stakeholder engagement with CRDCU focused on service quality, customer satisfaction, and the regulatory measures required to address critical challenges in the telecoms industry.

The Commission explained the discussions between the two organisations covered NCC’s ongoing initiatives with telecoms operators to expand Broadband penetration, strengthen consumer protection, and tackle issues, such as infrastructure deficits, vandalism, Right-of-Way (RoW) bottlenecks, and unreliable power supply in the ecosystem.

In her remarks during the meeting, the NCC stated Bala-Usman assured Maida that the CRDCU would continue to support the telecoms regulator in ensuring effective policy implementation and results tracking.

This effort, it noted, is to strengthen digital access, foster innovation, and enhance transparency, accountability in service delivery to Nigerian telecoms consumers.
