As part of efforts at ensuring successful take-off of this fuel distribution scheme, Dangote Refinery has disclosed it invested in the procurement of 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers.

Dangote also noted that this phase of the distribution initiative would continue over an extended timeframe.

Dangote Refinery equally revealed it is investing in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations, commonly referred to as “daughter booster stations”.

It further said these are supported by a fleet of over 100 CNG tankers to ensure seamless product distribution to big-ticket consumers across the West African country.

Core objectives of enlarged distribution network

The company stated: “This strategic programme is part of our broader commitment to eliminating logistics costs, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainability and supporting Nigeria’s economic development.

“It affirms our dedication to improving the availability and affordability of fuel, in support of broader efforts to strengthen the economy and improve the well-being of all Nigerians.”

According to Dangote, under the initiative, all filling stations purchasing PMS and diesel from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery will benefit from this enhanced logistics support.

The company restated that the key sectors of the Nigerian economy, such as telecommunications, manufacturing, aviation, and others would also gain from this transformative initiative.

It said such accruing benefits to large corporate consumers include reduced fuel costs that will contribute to lower production costs, reduced inflation, and foster economic growth.

Dangote Refinery further explained the players in these key sectors, and others could purchase directly from the plant, in Lagos

Besides, the Refinery has said it will offer a “credit facility to those purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres”, in order to enable them to obtain 500,000 litres additional stock on credit for two weeks under bank guarantee.

Impacts of improved distribution network on job creation, SME growth

In regard to the wide-ranging impacts of its fuel distribution network, Dangote Refinery noted the initiative is expected to revitalise previously inactive petrol stations, thereby driving job creation, stimulating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

It said the effort would increase government revenue, improve fuel availability access in rural and underserved communities, and ultimately strengthen investor confidence in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

The company as well stated that the fuel distribution network scheme is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda of   reflecting Nigeria’s “shared commitment to economic progress, stability, and inclusive development.”

It said: “We sincerely thank the Federal Government for its continued support, especially through the Naira-for-Crude scheme, which has helped stabilise fuel supply amid global price volatility.

“It marks a major revolution in the midstream and downstream sectors and stands as a key example of President Bola Tinubu’s bold and reformative economic policies.”

The company, therefore, invited Mobile Telecoms Operators (MNOs), oil marketers, petrol dealers, manufacturers, and other major stakeholders to embrace its landmark initiative.
