Amid the festive season, Malta Guinness, a popular malt drink in Nigeria, has dismissed the recent viral posts, alleging fake product as false and mischievous.

The company, in a statement, made posted on the official Facebook page of the company amid the fake drinks trend on the social media, clarified that both versions shown in the viral posts are old packaging that is no longer in circulation in the country.

It stated: “Dear consumers, we urge you and the public to disregard the false and mischievous posts that are resurfacing and recycled on social media targeting your favourite Malt Drink.

“These mischievous social media posts which had been debunked years ago are now being recirculated by placing old packaging side by side to make false allegations of fake vs original versions.”

The company’s rejoinder on the trending issue in the social media space addressed some recent social media posts, comparing older packaging of Malta Guinness with the current design, thereby alleging the existence of fake versions of the same product.

Malta Guinness, therefore, urged the general public to dismiss the misleading viral Social Media posts targeting the company’s product.

The company also reassured its loyal product consumers of continued enjoyment of their favourite Malta Guinness, especially during this holiday season.

Malta Guinness restated: “For clarity, both Malta Guinness packaging shown in the viral posts are old packaging that is no longer in circulation.

“We urge you to disregard these mischievous posts and share this release from us with your friends and family.”
