Chrysler recalls 181,999 Jeep Compass SUVs over faulty instrument panel lighting

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Chrysler is recalling 181,999 model year 2022-2023 Jeep Compass Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs).

The automobile manufacturer explains brightness level of the instrument panel cluster (IPC) may not be adjustable due to incorrect software in the body control module (BCM).

Chrysler said an IPC display that is not bright enough may not clearly show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.

In connection with what to do in addressing the defect, the company noted the dealers would update the BCM software, free of charge.

Affected vehicle owners will received notification letters around October 3, 2023, agency report said.

Owners may contact Chrysler Customer Service on (800) 853-1403, and the number for this recall is 88A.
