Against the backdrop of allegations of job racketeering and other infractions in the public service, the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee, in the National Assembly (NASS), Abuja, FCT, investigating reported jobs racketeering has said it received petitions against 39 Federal Government Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, Chairman of the Committee, stated this in an opening remarks at the resumed sitting of the Committee this week.

It was gathered the House of Representatives had set up the Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the MDAs, parastatals and tertiary institutions involved in the alleged mismanagement of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

Gagdi stated some of the MDAs include the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Office of the Head of Service, Budget Office, IPPIS, Federal Civil Service Commission, and others.

The Chairman said the Committee would in line with its mandate engage over 600 MDAs to unearth the extent of the malfeasance in the Federal Civil Service in Nigeria.

He also alleged the Commission could be likened to “a market for selling job slots” in the West African country.

It is recalled at the last sitting of the committee Wednesday this week, there were allegations and counter allegations between the Chairman, Federal Character Commission (FCC), Muheeba Dankaka and some commissioners over job racketeering in the establishment.
