Dangote clarifies over 30,000 skilled Nigerians besides expatriates built Oil Refinery Complex

The Management of Dangote Oil  Refinery, in Nigeria, have debunked a report published on some online media platforms that the new company employed 11,000 skilled workers from India while allegedly neglecting youths from Nigeria and other African countries.

However, in response to the claim in the online publication, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, in a statement issued Thursday, July 27, 2023, said the report was written with malicious intent as it did not reflect the number of skilled Nigerians on site at the time.

Chiejina also said the magnitude of the project required specialised skilled workforce from all over the world and that while over 30,000 Nigerians were engaged among the skilled workforce, at the peak of construction in the Refinery Complex.

He disclosed 6,400 Indians and 3,250 Chinese workers were also among the skilled workforce on the project.

The Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group said Nigerians on the project demonstrated high level of technical competence many hidden skills were discovered among them.

Chiejina, therefore, urged members of the public to discountenance such malicious and twisted reports.

The company as well advised Nigerians to instead focus on the potential impact of the project on the overall economy and well-being of consumers as “Dangote Group continues to be the leading light in employment generation.”
