Safety: Land Rover recalls 29,861 Discovery vehicles over loose passenger doors

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

Land Rover is recalling 29,861 model year 2017-2020 Discovery vehicles.

The automobile manufacturer said the UniLatch Keyless Vehicle (KV) entry function may fail to latch the rear passenger doors properly, which can result in the doors opening while the vehicle is being driven.

Besides, Land Rover stated that the instrument cluster open-door warning light may fail to alert the driver of this condition.

Rear passenger doors that open while the vehicle is moving can increase the risk of a crash, the company said.

An instrument cluster warning light that fails to alert the driver about unsecured doors can increase the risk of injury in a crash, agency report noted.

In regard to what to do in addressing the defect, Land Rover said dealers would disable the KV entry function free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2023.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Land Rover Customer Service on (800) 637-6837.

Land Rover’s number for this recall is N798.
