Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling 96,007 model year 2022-2023 Corolla Cross vehicles.

The automobile manufacturer disclosed the instrument panel of the affected car models may have been produced without the required perforation, which could result in the front-passenger airbag not deploying properly.

Toyota noted an airbag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury in a crash.

In regard to what to do in addressing the issue, the company said that dealers would inspect and replace the instrument panel — if necessary — free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 10, 2023.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Toyota’s Customer Service on (800) 331-4331.

Toyota’s number for this recall is 23TB04/23TA04.
