The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number rs (ICANN), AFRALO and Green ICTi is set to host a free webinar on Universal Acceptance (UA) March 28, 2023.

ConsumerConnect reports the telecoms sector regulatory Commission said UA is “a technical requirement that ensures all valid domain names and email addresses, regardless of script, language, or character length, can be equally used by all internet-enabled applications, devices, and systems.”

The NCC Tuesday, March 21 noted the ICANN had approved March 28 this year as the inaugural UA Day, with the theme: “Internet4All’.

The Commission also stated the Universal Acceptance Day is for “everyone worldwide, regardless of language or script, to learn about UA, and how it can improve Internet accessibility for all.”

The regulator said: “We invite you to join us and learn more about this important topic.

“As a critical stakeholder, your participation is crucial in spreading awareness and encouraging the adoption of UA by key participants.”

The free webinar will be held online April 6, while the link to the webinar will be shared soon, it noted.

The NCC added: “We believe everyone should have equal access to the Internet and its resources, and UA is a crucial step in achieving this goal.

“Join us in promoting Internet accessibility for all by attending the webinar and contributing to the conversation.
