Tesla recalls over 24,000 Model 3 vehicles over incorrectly assembled seat belt buckle, anchor

Tesla is recalling 24,064 model year 2017-2022 Model 3 vehicles.

The automobile manufacturer, led by world’s richest man and Twitter ‘Chief Twit’ Elon Musk, said the second-row left seat belt buckle and second-row centre seat belt anchor may have been reassembled incorrectly during vehicle service.

This can impair the performance of the seat belt in a crash, increasing the risk of injury, said the company.

As regards what to do in correcting the error, the manufacturer noted that Tesla Service would inspect and reassemble the seat belt anchors —  as necessary — free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by December 20, 2022.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Tesla Customer Service on (877) 798-3752.

Tesla’s number for this recall is SB-22-20-004.
