GM recalls 95,231 Cadillac XT5, XT6, GMC Acadia vehicles over faulty rearview cameras

Isola Moses | ConsumerConnect

General Motors (GM) is recalling 95,231 model year 2020-2021 Cadillac XT5s & XT6s, and GMC Acadias equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature.

The automobile manufacturer explains the coaxial cable connectors for the rearview camera may have been crimped improperly, causing the camera to fail or function intermittently.

A rearview camera that doesn’t work as intended can reduce the driver’s rear visibility and increase the risk of a crash, the company said.

ConsumerConnect learnt that GM had recalled over two million vehicles in 2022.

In respect of what to do, the company said dealers would replace the coaxial cables free of charge.

GM will mail letters notifying owners of the safety risk by November 7, 2022, and send a second letter once the remedy is available, report stated.

Owners may contact Cadillac Customer Service on (800) 458-8006 or GMC Customer Service on (800) 462-8782.

GM’s number for this recall is N222378380.
