In order to preserve their personal dignity and protect the country’s reputation in the international world, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has cautioned intending Nigerian Hajj pilgrims against drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia.

ConsumerConnect learnt Hajia Habiba Zubair, an official of the anti-narcotics regulatory agency gave the warning in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, while addressing those travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform the 2022 Hajj.

Zubair warned that pilgrims could take only prescription drugs to Saudi Arabia as the Saudi Arabian Government would not tolerate anything outside that while there.

The NDLEA personnel also said: “You should avoid drugs capable of getting you arrested.”

She urged the pilgrims to not take kolanuts or ground pepper to the Arabian country as as such items would be confiscated by the authorities.

Zubair further warned: “Do not take any luggage from strangers in any circumstance as you may be tricked into taking on prohibitive substances.”

The agency as well advised the intending pilgrims to always wear their state’s uniform while in Saudi Arabia for easy identification during the spiritual programme.
