As part of the needed moral support for the imminent national rollout of the exercise, Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, has appealed to Imo State indigenes in particular and Nigerians in general to not resist injection of the Coronavirus vaccination soon to commence in the country.

Mustapha, who made the appeal at the weekend when he visited Senator Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State, told the reporters in Owerri, the state capital, that any form of resistance would not be good for the people.

The Chairman of PTF on COVID-19 urged the people to shun anyone advising them to the contrary, reports The Nation.

According to the SGF, NAFDAC had approved Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine for immunisation against the virus in Nigeria, and the administration of the vaccine will be to the benefit of all Nigerians.

Mustapha stated: “COVID-19 is real and records show that over 110,000,000 people have been infected in Nigeria, and it will not be easy to defeat the pandemic if Nigerians do not adhere strictly to the preventive measures of wearing of nose mask, maintaining social distancing, washing their hands, using alcohol base sanitizers and avoiding traveling when not necessary.”

According to him, Nigeria is expected to receive the NAFDAC approved vaccine before the end of the month.

He appealed to Nigerians to discard the widespread conspiracy theory surrounding the vaccines and advised them to do the needful “because the virus has destabilised the entire system and economy of the whole world.”

The PTF Chairman also took the opportunity of the visit to commend Governor Uzodinma on the works he is doing in the state, especially in road infrastructure while urging him to continue undeterred.

The governor commended Mustapha for finding time to stop by and briefed him on the efforts his administration has been making to deal with the pandemic.
