In line with the National Numbering Plan to set up a uniform numbering scheme and the associated dialling procedures in the country, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has disclosed it provided 382.94 million telephone numbers for the use of telecommunications operators.

ConsumerConnect gathered the telecom regulator made the clarification Saturday, February 20 that aggregate 382.94 million telephone numbers represent a total of all the telephone numbers allocated to telecom operators to date in Nigeria.

The NCC listed some the telecom operators as beneficiaries to include 21st Century Technologies, Airtel Networks, Big Picture Nigeria, Intercellular Nigeria Limited, EMTS Limited (9 Mobile), Globacom, iPNX Nigeria Limited and MTN Nigeria Communications.

The purpose of the National Numbering Plan was to set up a uniform numbering scheme and the associated dialling procedures to be used in the network to allow subscribers and operators to set up calls, stated the telecom sector regulator.
