Engr. Abraham Oshadami, Executive Commissioner, Technical Services (ECTS) at NCC, emphasised this in his opening remarks at the media engagement on the release of the Commission’s Fourth Quarter (Q4) 2025 Network Performance Reports Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in Abuja, FCT.

Oshadami acknowledged the critical role of the media, as the NCC partners, in informing the public and shaping understanding of developments in the Nigerian telecommunications sector.

He also stated: “Your engagement is important to us, and we do not take it for granted.

“At the Nigerian Communications Commission, transparency for us has become a guiding principle that underpins our regulatory approach.”

In regard to the strategic importance of open and adequate information to the telecoms regulator’s publics, the Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, further stressed that open access to information strengthens the industry, builds public trust, and reinforces accountability among operators.

Subsequently, the Commission continues to proactively share data and insights on industry performance, not only to support informed decision-making, but also to ensure that service providers remain accountable to consumers, he said.

Oshadami equally noted that the Commission deepened this commitment by partnering with Ookla to develop nationwide Network Coverage Maps.

The Commission’s ECTS explained: “These maps provide consumers with an objective tool to compare network quality across locations and operators.”

He restated that as part of the partnership with the organisation, the NCC commenced the publication of Quarterly Network Performance Reports, so as to offer consistent, data-driven insights into how networks are performing across the West African country.

According to him, the first of these reports —the Q3 2025 Network Performance Report— was published October last year.

Impact on measurable improvements in Network Performance, consumers’ QoE

The Executive Commissioner Technical Services noted: “We are pleased to formally present the Q4 2025 Network Performance Reports and to engage with you on its findings.

“The objective of this interaction is straightforward: to share key insights from the report, highlight how the industry is performing, and provide clarity on trends that matter to both consumers and stakeholders.”

Oshadami as well affirmed the collective efforts of the NCC and partners “are beginning to yield positive results.”

He also stated: “We are observing measurable improvements in network performance and, importantly, in the Quality of Experience (QoE) delivered to consumers.

“We regard the media as strategic partners in this journey.”

The Commission stressed the significance of ensuring that stories of progress, accountability, and reform are accurately told and widely understood by the publics.

Oshadami added: “We encourage you to engage critically, take note of the data presented, and help amplify these stories to the public.”
