The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it will hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
The Commission disclosed the media engagement is being organised to mark 100 days to Nigeria’s 2027 General Elections.

Mr. Adedayo Oketola, Chief Press Secretary (CPS)/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, who said this in a statement Sunday, October 4, 2026, noted the Commission, at the world press conference, would provide updates on preparations for the elections, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics, and critical measures to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
The statement noted Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, Chairman of INEC, would address the forum alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process in the country.
Oketola also emphasised that the national stakeholders’ meeting “underlines the Commission’s commitment to absolute transparency, proactive public communication, and collaborative engagement with key actors in the electoral ecosystem.”
He stated the meeting would attract political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.
The CPS to the Chairman of the Commission further stated the world press conference would hold Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja, FCT, at 10:00 a.m.
Guests are expected to be seated by 10:00 a.m.
The statement noted: “The event will be broadcast live on major national television networks, and streamed on INEC’s official social media platforms.
Meanwhile, accredited media representatives and invited guests have been urged to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints at the venue Tuesday.
