Tinubu returns to Nigeria after 4-week vacation in France

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has ended his working vacation, departed Paris, in France, and returned to Lagos, Nigeria.

ConsumerConnect reports President Tinubu’s aircraft evening Tuesday, September 28, 2026, touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), in Lagos.

Earlier, the Presidency, in a statement by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tuesday, had said President Tinubu decided to fly to Lagos first, to honour the memory of late Chief MKO Abiola, the martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.

The statement also disclosed that on Independence Day, the President will attend the premiere of a movie honouring Abiola, the winner of the June 1993 election, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, in Lagos.

Onanuga stated while in Lagos, President Tinubu would hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 General Elections.

It is recalled that Tinubu departed Abuja August 30 for the working vacation. He spent a week in London, United Kingdom (US), before heading for Paris.

While in Paris, he attended a private dinner with President Emmanuel Macron.

He also met with business leaders, including Mr. Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.

The President, on Monday, as well met with Mr. Femi Otedola, Chairman of FirstHoldings (FirstHoldCo) Plc.

Last week, President Tinubu, in France, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ogun State Government and DP World.

The MoU is based on building a Gateway deep seaport in Ogun Waterside, and creating a Blue Marine Economic Zone in the area.

DP World, one of the world’s leading ports and logistics operators, plans to invest $7 billion for the seaport and the economic zone.

The Presidential aide said: “President Tinubu will return to Abuja after his political engagements in Lagos.”
