Following an intelligence-led operation, the Ogun State Police Command has said Officers arrested six suspects, and rescued two pregnant women and four children at an alleged baby factory in the Mowe area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.
Oluborode Opeyemi, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, disclosed this development in a statement in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Opeyemi stated: “The Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in the Command’s ongoing fight against human trafficking and child exploitation, as an intelligence-led operation led to the dismantling of an illegal ‘baby factory’ syndicate at Abaren Village, Mowe.
“The operation resulted in the safe rescue of two heavily pregnant women and four children, as well as the arrest of six suspects.”
The Ogun State Police Command also said the the operation was carried out August 24, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m., when operatives acting on sustained intelligence stormed the syndicate’s hideout located at Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village via Gbarinmole, a suburb of Mowe.
The statement further noted: “Preliminary investigation revealed that human trafficking and illegal adoption activities had been systematically occurring at the facility over time.
“During the raid, operatives safely rescued two pregnant victims, and four young children, comprising two males and two females.”
It further revealed that intelligence-led follow-up operations led operatives to a hospital within the Mowe axis, where another victim had given birth to a baby boy August 20, 2026.
The Command explained while the mother was receiving medical treatment, the whereabouts of the newborn child could not be accounted for, prompting the arrest of the attending nurse in locating the infant.
The statement noted: “The case is currently being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a continued diligent investigation as to establish the full extent of the syndicate’s activities, locate the missing newborn, and ensure the prosecution of every culpable suspect.”
Meanwhile, the Police authorities have assured members of the general public informed as further developments unfold.
Speaking on the development, CP Bode Ojajuni, Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to stamping out human trafficking, child trading, and all forms of violent crime across Ogun State.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police by providing timely and credible information.
The Police as well said the Command would sustain intelligence-led policing to ensure the safety and protection of all citizens.
