Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling 231 model year 2021 A220, A35 AMG, and CLA250 cars.

The automaker stated the child seat anchoring system (ISOFIX) may be missing the right-side anchoring bar from the ISOFIX bracket on the right-rear seat.

If the anchoring bar is missing from the ISOFIX bracket, the child restraint cannot be secured properly to the seat using the ISOFIX securing system, increasing the risk of injury for a child in that seat, according to the company.

In regard to what to do to rectify the error, MBUSA will notify affected owners, and dealers will inspect the right-rear ISOFIX bracket and replace the bracket, if necessary, free of charge.

The current recall is expected to begin March 30, 2021.

Owners may contact MBUSA Customer Service on (800) 367-6372.

In a related development, BMW of North America is recalling 28 model year 2020-2021 530i xDrives, 540i xDrives and model year 2021 740Li xDrives over defective output shafts that may break in motion.

The output shafts (left/right) which transfer power from the driveshaft to the rear wheels may break due to a heat treatment error during supplier production.

The company said a broken output shaft could lead to a loss of drive power or a rollaway condition in a parked vehicle (if the parking brake is not engaged), increasing the risk of a crash.

On what to do, BMW will notify concerned owners, and dealers will replace the output shaft(s) free of charge.

The recall is also expected to begin March 29, 2021.

Meanwhile, owners may contact BMW Customer Service on (800) 525-7417.
