Ogun directs ex-political office holders to return official number plates or get arrested

*Ogun State Government of Nigeria has issued a directive that all unauthorised number plates in possession of former public officials be returned to the office of the Head of Service immediately

In accounting for number plates allocated to official vehicles for record purpose, the Ogun State Government of Nigeria has said former political office holders and retirees in the state risk being arrested should they fail to return government number plates in their possession.

Dahunsi Ogunleye, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, in a statement Friday, December 8, 2021, confirmed that security agents have been directed to arrest private vehicles with government number plates henceforth.

The government via the statement, noted it had issued directive that all unauthorised number plates in possession of public officials be returned to the office of the Head of Service immediately.

Ogunleye also directed that all number plates affixed to unserviceable vehicles be removed.

The ones with retirees and ex-political office holders should be returned immediately, said he.

The statement added that all accounting officers have been informed to furnish the Office of the Head of Service with details of allocated official vehicles, with government number plates for record purpose.
