In a strategic move to empower small-scale farmers, boost agricultural production, and enhance food security in the country, the South African Government is planning to provide funds for successful applicants with as much as 9,000 Rand each.

Thoko Didiza, Agriculture, Land Reform & Rural Development Minister, told reporters Monday, December 7, 2020.

The Minister stated that the government plans to distribute the money to the beneficiaries by March 2021.

This effort, according to Didiza, is to help the farmers to tend their small-scale farms, according to agency report.

The programme is said to be part of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s economic stimulus package for small-scale food producers in the Southern African country.
