*The power steering control unit wiring harness may be damaged

Alexander Davis | ConsumerConnect

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling 2,535 model year 2020 GLC300, GLC350e, GLC43 AMG, and GLC63 AMG vehicles.

ConsumerConnect reports the power steering control unit wiring harness may have been damaged during the production process, possibly resulting in a loss of power steering assist or an electrical short-circuit while in motion.

The company stated that a loss of power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash. If the wiring harness short-circuits, there is a risk of fire, it noted.

On what to do in rectifying the factory error, MBUSA will notify affected car owners, and dealers will inspect the wiring harness, and replace it, if necessary, free of charge.

Report says the current recall is expected to begin December 22, 2020, while owners may contact MBUSA Customer Service on (800) 367-6372.
