While many Nigerians had thought that it is probably only hoodlums that have broken into food warehouses to steal COVID-19 palliatives across the country, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismissed one of its officers for committing same offence in Abuja, FCT.

The NSCDC Tuesday, October 27 sacked Corps Assistant Illiya Ibrahim of the Gwagwalada Division Abuja, for joining the hoodlums in the looting spree of COVID-19 palliatives in Gwagwalada area of the FCT.

Gbenga Ekunola, Media Assistant to Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, Commandant-General of NSCDC, in a statement Tuesday revealed that Ibrahim’s dismissal was approved after a series of investigations and deliberations by the junior disciplinary committee.

Ekunola said: “The recommendation was given after the officer was charged under the public service rule which is related to unbecoming conduct of officers.

“This disciplinary measure was taken after a series of investigations and deliberations by the junior disciplinary committee and recommendations were made to the management.”

According to the statement, Muhammadu, however, appreciated officers and men of the Corps, including members of the public for providing useful information that has continued to assist the Corps in identifying unfit individuals within the ranks for appropriate action.
