The Osun State Government of Nigeria has issued an ultimatum to those who looted the government and private property in the wake of #EndSARS protests in the state recently.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, who issued the warning in Osogbo, the state capital, while speaking with reporters Sunday, October 25 during an assessment tour of some locations of the torched facilities, cautioned the looters to return all items taken in 72 hours.

Oyetola said failure to abide by the directive would lead to the prosecution of anyone arrested for the act.

The governor urged the culprits to surrender all stolen items to the security agencies, traditional rulers, local government chairmen and community leaders close to them.

Defaulters would be tracked and brought to justice, while those who embraced it would be forgiven, said he.

He stated: “What I witnessed here today is not a question of hoodlums, but armed robbers. They have removed all the machines here. It is very unfortunate.

“I can say categorically that End SARS protest is not what we are seeing here today. This is pure looting.”

The governor also sympathised with victims of the looting spree and promised them of government support.
