Government requests NASS for approval of N148.141bn to pay states for road projects

Following the said physical inspection and verification of projects and subsequent review of requests for reimbursement by the states of the Federation, President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the Nigerian House of Representatives to approve N148.141 billion as refund to five states for road projects, through the issuance of promissory notes.

Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, read the letter from President Buhari on resumption of plenary Tuesday, September 29.

The states that would receive the refunds for road projects include Bayelsa N38.404 billion; Rivers, N78.953 billion; Cross River, N18.394 billion; Ondo, N7.822 billion; and Osun, N4.567 totalling N148.141 billion.

It was learnt that the letter revealed that the decision to pay the money was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) June 3, 2020, for the reimbursement of N148.141billion.

The President, in the letter, disclosed that the approval by FEC was sequel to the recommendation of an inter-ministerial committee which reviewed the request for reimbursement made by the states and carried out physical inspection and verification of the projects in the respective states.
