Security operatives arrest 3 Nigerians, 2 Sri Lankans over visa violations

For violating immigration and emigration laws by staying in the country without valid visa, Sri Lanka Police special forces have arrested three Nigerians and two nationals as accomplices.

The Organised Crime Prevention Division (OCPD) of the Department of Police, based on a tip off, arrested the suspects in Mount Lavinia of the country Sunday, August 30, according to the Police Media Division source.

ConsumerConnect learnt that two Sri Lankans were also arrested for assisting the Nigerians to stay in the country illegally.

Further investigations on the matter are carried out by the Police OCPD, report stated.

In a related incident, report indicates that Sri Lanka Thursday, August 27, also apprehended 14 foreign nationals for staying in the country without valid visa and violating of its immigration and emigration laws.

In the process, 13 Chinese and a Thai national were arrested by the Mount Lavinia Police at a lodge in De Seram Road in Mount Lavinia.

The suspects, aged between 20 and 44 years, have been handed over to the Mount Lavinia Police for further investigations.

They will be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Courts Monday, August 31, 2020.
