NDLEA apprehends 7 alleged drug traffickers in Katsina

In an effort at supporting the fight against illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Katsina State Command, has said it arrested seven drug traffickers August 18−25, 2020.

Mustapha Maikudi, Spokesman of the regulatory agency in Katsina State, disclosed this in a statement Saturday, August 29.

The statement noted that 73-year-old Umar Abdullahi from Mani Local Government Area of the state was among the seven arrested suspects.

Maikudi stated: “Others arrested within the period are Shehu Adamu, 32, from Bindawa Local Government Area (10.65 kg of weeds); and Nura Salele, 59, from Funtua Local Government (10 bottles of cough syrup with codeine).”

Others are Nuhu Nabayi Fafawa, 52, from Danmusa Local Government Area (5.21kg of weeds) and Shuaibu Dangora, 50, from Dutsinma Local Government Area (unspecified quantity of weeds).

The NDLEA Spokesman in the statement said: “The rest are Sadiqu Dahiru, 23, from Malumfashi Local Government Area (19.2 kg of weeds); and Harisu Sa’adu, 20, from Safana Local Government Area, who was caught with Exol weighing 5 kgs and Tramadol 750 grams.”

The suspects would face prosecution after completion of investigation while warning drug dealers in the state to desist from the criminal act, Maikudi stated.
