Insecurity: We take seriously the responsibility of safeguarding lives, property of Nigerians –Tinubu

Sequel to his winning the ticket of the governing All Progressives Congress as its Presidential Candidate in 2027 General Elections, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will not relent until peace and security are restored across nooks and crannies of the West African country.

ConsumerConnect reports the thorny, topical issue of insecurity of lives and property has dominated public discourse amid growing concerns over insecurity in several regions in Nigeria.

President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s resolve to accord priority attention to restoration of peace and security Sunday, May 24, 2026, while delivering his acceptance speech after emerging the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries in Abuja, FCT.

In his speech while addressing delegates and party supporters at the event, Tinubu acknowledged the security challenges confronting Nigeria, and restated his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property of the people.

He also asserted: “I must acknowledge the security challenges confronting us in many parts of our beloved nation.

“I assure you that I take seriously the responsibility of safeguarding the lives and property of every Nigerian.”

The Nigerian leader further noted: “Our government has intensified efforts to strengthen our security architecture, support our brave Armed Forces and the Police, and forge stronger partnerships with local communities.

“We will win the battle against banditry. We will not rest until we restore peace and stability to every corner of our country.”

He equally said: “Our resolve is unwavering, our goal is clear, a Nigeria where every citizen can live, work, and aspire without fear.”

The President also urged Nigerians and party members to remain united ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

He as well described the party poll as a critical moment for Nigeria’s democratic development.

The President assured Nigerians of sustaining ongoing economic reforms, if re-elected.

Tinubu also pledged to place the country on path of lasting economic growth and democratic stability in the comity of nations.

It is noted President Tinubu’s remarks have come amid heightened public concern about recent attacks by suspected terrorists on residents, including schoolchildren, in Oyo, Borno, and Kwara states.

Recently, armed bandits invaded communities in Oriire Local Government Area (LGA) near Ogbomoso, in Oyo States.

The bandits cum kidnappers abducted teachers and pupils, just as they killed a teacher in the process.

The burial of the one of the abducted teachers, who the kidnappers killed held at the weekend.

The incident generated protests in Ogbomoso, where teachers shut down classroom activities and marched peacefully to the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) office.

The protesters demanded urgent action to secure the release of those still in captivity till this day.

Earlier, President Tinubu, in a statement, had condemned the attack and assured Nigerians, that security agencies were intensifying efforts at rescuing the victims and arresting those responsible for the attack on the innocent Nigerians.

He restated his support for the establishment of State Police.

According to him, the National Assembly (NASS), in Abuja, would fast-track legislative processes on the matter.
