Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Nigeria’s Honourable Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), has reemphasised the strategic importance of ensuring that developing economies are positioned to fully participate in the opportunities emerging from the global digital transformation.

ConsumerConnect reports Dr. Tijani stated this during his recent one-to-one engagement with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigerian-born Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, on the margins of the recent International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council meetings, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Appreciating his engagement with Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, Dr. Tijani expressed his appreciation to the Director-General of the WTO for making the time to meet with him in Geneva.

The Minister said: “I valued our excellent conversation on the intersection of trade, technology, and artificial intelligence in an increasingly interconnected global digital economy, and the importance of ensuring that developing economies are positioned to fully participate in the opportunities emerging from this transformation.”

According to him, as technology continues to reshape global commerce and productivity, Nigeria also “remains committed not only to preparing for the future, but to helping shape it through innovation, digital infrastructure, talent development, and stronger global collaboration towards shared prosperity for our people.”
