The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has restated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and delivering sustainable student financing solutions with a view to removing financial blockades to higher education in the West African country.

In view of its mandate, NELFUND has announced approval for an extension of its Student Loan Application Portal for tertiary institutions that have formally requested extra time for the current 2025/2026 academic session.

It explained that the extension basically applied to such institutions that had submitted official requests to NELFUND for additional time to enable their eligible students to complete their applications on its Student Loan portal.

Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, who disclosed this development in a statement, noted Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, Managing Director of the agency, reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring access to the student loan programme for all eligible Nigerian students.

Sawyerr stated: “NELFUND remains committed to ensuring that eligible students across participating institutions have the opportunity to access the student loan programme.”

The agency, therefore, urged all eligible students in the affected institutions to take advantage of the extension so granted, and complete their applications on its official portal.
