Tinubu nominates Oyedele as new Minister of State for Finance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.

The Federal Government disclosed Dr. Uzoka-Anite would move to serve as the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, as the Minister of State, her third portfolio in the current administration.

Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who noted this development in a statement Tuesday, March 3, 2026, said President Tinubu had also conveyed the nomination of Oyedele to the Senate for confirmation in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

ConsumerConnect reports that prior to President Tinubu’s nomination of Oyedele as a minister, the nominee from Ikare-Akoko, in Ondo State, was the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which recently overhauled the tax system in Nigeria.

In terms of his professional profile, Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant and public policy expert.

He attended Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), in Lagos, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Finance.

The Ministerial nominee as well attended Oxford Brookes University and earned a B.Sc in Applied Accounting.

Oyedele has also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics (LSE), Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

He had spent 22 years of his working career at PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PwC), which he joined 2001, and rose from the ranks to become the Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

Oyedele is also a professor at Babcock University, Ilishan Remo in Ogun State and visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School (LBS) of the Pan-Atlantic University in Lagos.
