Damissah, Sirajo, others receive PSR Nigerian Achievements Awards

As part of events marking the silver jubilee of prominent society media publication PSR, some eminent Nigerians across diverse professional backgrounds have been honoured with the Nigerian Achievements Awards 2025.

The roll call includes Mr. Hilary Damissah, a seasoned and versatile media and communication professional and Dr. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu, President of the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) among others.

According to the Awards jury, the enviable honour is bestowed on Damissah for his sterling contributions to the field of Media and Information Management in Nigeria.

At the ceremony held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the prestigious Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, in Lagos, the occasion drew a distinguished audience from across the country’s public and private sectors during which a few Nigerians were honoured.

In his remarks, Chief Victor Omuabor, Chairman of the Awards Committee and Publisher PSR Magazine, noted that this year’s silver jubilee honorees are most remarkable, given the milestone of the Awards over the past 25 years of celebrating the Nigerian Achievements Awards (NAA).

Omuabor said: “As the organisers, we’ve meticulously selected a few of you the awardees after so much rigorous process and months of scrutiny, we’re proud to confer on you this honours as we hope this will further inspire you in your respective fields of endeavour to better the course of humanity and the greater good of the society in general.”

The Chairman of the Awards Committee also admonished the awardees to be good ambassadors of PSR Nigerian Achievements Awards.

He equally challenged them to continue to live up to the high expectations that come with the recognitions.

Damissah’s profile at a glance

For his distinguished multimedia career spanning over 25 years,

Damissah received the award in recognition of his longstanding contributions to national development, especially in media practice, information management, strategic communication, and public affairs where he has built an impressive record cutting across print, broadcast, and digital media.

PSR in its justification and citation on Hilary Damissah, remarked that his professional foundation is anchored on strong academic credentials, including a BA (Hons.) in English Language and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

He also holds a diploma from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

Beyond practice, Damissah has established himself as a credible researcher, contributing scholarly works to respected international journals, such as the International Journal of Science and Research Archive and Global Scholarly Communications (GSC) – Advanced Research and Reviews.

A prominent figure in Nigeria’s evolving information ecosystem, Damissah is a member of Africa Public Relations Association, and serves as Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Internet Group (NIG).

He is the Executive Director of the Centre for Cyber Awareness and Development (CECAD).

He is also the Director of Information and Strategy for the International Youth Congress (Nigeria), a charter of IYC Inc., USA.

Some of his past engagements include membership of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Security’s Media Advisory Working Group and longstanding involvement in the Local Organising Committee of the former eNigeria (now Digital Nigeria) Conference.

He is Editor and Associate Producer at AIT DigiVation Network and Editor of Cyber Africa News.

As a writer, Damissah’s versatility spans fiction and non-fiction.

He is the author of Society, Conflicts and Media (2024) and the novel, Nemesis at Cross Road (2010).

His contributions to event and project management are equally notable.

He has led major national initiatives, such as the Nigeria Mobile Economy Summit and Awards (NIMES), the Nigeria Digital Innovation Conference (NDIC), and the Cyber Nigeria Forum (CNF).

In addition, he coordinates the Ghana/Nigeria Tourism and Culture Showcase, the first privately driven bilateral cultural forum in West Africa.

His consultancy portfolio includes communication projects for top national institutions, including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), and NIPOST.

In 2016, he facilitated Nigeria’s maiden official participation in CABSAT, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre—one of the world’s leading digital media and satellite technology gatherings.

Over the years, Damissah has earned multiple accolades, including the Obafemi Awolowo University Distinguished Alumni Award, the Techlife Impactful Media Personality Award, and the ACJ Media Legacy Award.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Information Management (FIIM, Africa), a member of the Information Security Society Association of Nigeria (ISSAN), and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR).

This latest honour further underscores Damissah’s influence in shaping Nigeria’s media, ICT, and information landscape through innovation, advocacy, and professional excellence.
