For its sterling leadership and impactful contributions to digital literacy, Information Technology (IT) development, and nationwide technology adoption in the emerging Nigeria Digital Economy, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has received the “Government Agency of the Year” Award.

ConsumerConnect reports NITDA received the honour during the Nigeria Computer Society’s (NCS) National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA) 2025, held at Muson Centre, Lagos.

Mr. Oladejo Olawumi, Director of IT Infrastructure Solutions, representing Dr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of NITDA, received the award on behalf of the IT sector regulatory agency.

Commenting on the prized award, the agency noted the recognition has highlighted NITDA’s “transformative initiatives from supporting startups and strengthening digital infrastructure to empowering citizens with essential digital skills that broaden participation in the digital economy.”

The agency, in a message shared via its verified social media account also said the latest award indicated NITDA’s impact in shaping Nigeria’s digital future and its commitment to ensuring no one is left behind in the country’s technological progress.

The honour as well has reinforced the IT regulator’s continued role in promoting innovation, expanding digital inclusion, and championing policies that enable a smarter, more connected Nigeria, stated NITDA.
