Following recent reported cases of herdsmen’s attacks, armed robberies, and wanton killings of farmers right in their farmlands around the country, especially during the critical Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) period, Alhaji Sabo Nanono, Nigeria’s Honourable Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, has assured farmers of adequate security.

Alhaji Nanono stated this Thursday, July 23 while handing over the multi-million Naira water treatment plant executed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development at Bukkuyum community in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara, says agency report.

Nanono said: “The Federal Government’s security agencies are working round the clock to guarantee security for farmers everywhere in the country, farmers are therefore, encouraged to be patient with the government.”

The water project, according to him, is aimed to supply the community with clean and portable water.

It would help to improve good health for rural dwellers to encourage high productivity, the Minister explained.

He added that “the ministry’s infrastructural support to farmers is not limited to the mini-water treatment plant but includes social amenities such as solar lights, rural roads and provision of subsidised inputs and equipment.

“The present administration in Nigeria led by President Muhammad Buhari does not only believe in farmers but interested in their well-being.”

Alhaji Junaidu Muhammad, Zamfara State Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources, described the gesture as a timely and welcome development.

Muhammad said: “Water is very important to life without which there is no existence, on behalf of the state government; we appreciate this kind gesture to our people.
