President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Wednesday, November 19, 2025, postponed his scheduled trips to Johannesburg, in South Africa, and Luanda, in Angola, for further security briefings on the kidnapped Kebbi schoolgirls and violent attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State of Nigeria

Following Kwara State Governor’s request, President Tinubu has also ordered the deployment of more security men to Eruku, and the entire Ekiti Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The Nigerian leader also directed the Police to pursue the bandits who attacked worshippers.

Earlier, President Tinubu was scheduled to leave Abuja Wednesday to attend the 20th G20 Summit of leaders in South Africa, and later head for Luanda to attend the 7th AU-EU Summit.

Disturbed by the security breaches in Kebbi State and Monday’s attack by bandits against worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, however, Tinubu has decided to suspend his foreign trips.

Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who disclosed this development Wednesday said President Tinubu would await situation reports from Vice-President Kashim Shettima and heads of some security agencies.

VP Shettima had paid a sympathy visit to Kebbi on behalf of the Pres, as well as reports from the Police and the Department of State Services regarding the attack in Kwara.

The Presidential aide, in the statement, said President Tinubu reiterated his directive to the security agencies to “do everything possible” to rescue the 24 schoolgirls, abducted by the bandits and bring the girls back home safely.
