The Lagos State Government (LASG) described the recent E1 Lagos Grand Prix as a bold statement of the cosmopolitan state’s global standing.

ConsumerConnect reports Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Honourable Commissioner for Information, said this Friday, October 3, 2025, while speaking at the opening of Africa’s first all-electric powerboat race in the state.

It is noted the E1 Lagos Grand Prix, held at the Marina waterfront, formed part of the international E1 Series, featuring electric race boats in leading cities worldwide.

Omotoso affirmed the landmark event underscored Lagos State’s resilience and readiness to embrace a sustainable future.

The Commissioner also asserted: “This race is not just about speed on water. It is a scientific demonstration of precision, accuracy and sustainability.”

He explained the Lagos’ hosting of the E1 Grand Prix has placed Lagos on the global map as a hub of creativity, inspiring youths to embrace sports and technology.

Omotoso said the championship aligned with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State’s vision of positioning Lagos as a “Centre of excellence”, innovation, investment and international partnerships.

Omotoso further assured stakeholders and spectators of the state government’s full commitment to delivering a world-class experience throughout the event’s duration.
