*United States President Donald Trump announces imposition of 100 percent tariffs on furniture items and movies, claiming that other countries of the world are ‘stealing the movie business’ from his country like stealing ‘candy from a baby’

United States (US) Donald Trump has revealed that his administration is yet imposing substantial 100 percent tariffs on furniture items and movies, just as North Carolina has entirely lost its business to China and other countries of the world.

ConsumerConnect reports President Trump, in announcing fresh tariffs on movies and furniture produced outside the American country Monday, September 29, 2025, emphasised that other countries are stealing these businesses from the US.

The US President also said that other countries are stealing the movie business from the his country like stealing “candy from a baby”.

In a blog post on Truth Social media platform, Trump equally stated that he would impose a 100 percent tariff on “any and all movies” made outside the US.

According to him, other countries are stealing the movie-making business from America, like “stealing candy from a baby.”

The President asserted: “Our movie-making business has been stolen from the United States of America by other countries, just like stealing ‘candy from a baby.’ California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit!

“Therefore, in order to solve this long time, never ending problem, I will be imposing a 100% tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States.”

Trump added: ” Thank you for your attention to this matter. ‘Make America Great Again’! President DJT.”

How North Carolina entirely lost furniture business to China, others: Trump

Still, in a separate post, Trump disclosed that he will impose substantial tariffs on furniture made by other countries, citing that North Carolina has entirely lost its furniture business to China and others.

His Truth Social post said, “In order to make North Carolina, which has completely lost its furniture business to China, and other Countries, GREAT again, I will be imposing substantial Tariffs on any Country that does not make its furniture in the United States. Details to follow!!! President DJT.”

Earlier this week, President Trump had announced a series of tariffs on a number of products, ranging from pharmaceutical products to heavy trucks.

The US President further imposed the highest tariffs of 100 percent on pharmaceutical products, and said the levy would not be applicable to companies that are ‘building’ their manufacturing plant in America, agency report said.

He also explained what he meant by ‘building’, implying that a pharma company’s plant was either “breaking ground” or “under construction” in the United States.

Besides, the US President imposed a 50 percent tariff on kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and related products.

Trump as well announced a 30 percent levy on upholstered furniture and a 25 percent tariff on heavy trucks, report stated.
