The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has said it is unaware of the recent deportation of at least 35 Nigerians, including children, from the Republic of Ireland to the West African country.

ConsumerConnect reports Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Spokesman of NiDCOM, said this in a media chat.

Balogun averred that the Commission had not received prior notice of the action by the Irish Government.

The 35 deported Nigerians, including five children, in a chartered flight that left Dublin Airport night Wednesday, June 4, 2025, and touched down Thursday in Nigeria.

The deportees comprised 21 men, nine women, and five children, reported The Irish Mirror.

However, Jim O’Callaghan, Irish Minister for Justice, reportedly confirmed the deportation of Nigerians.

O’Callaghan said he was “happy to say” all the individuals arrived in Nigeria safely despite an unscheduled stopover prompted by a medical incident on board, report noted.

The Irish Government did not provide specific reasons for the deportation of the Nigerian nationals. O’Callaghan, nonetheless, stated: “Ireland has a rules-based immigration system.

“It is important that those rules are robust and enforced.”
