Activating Nigeria’s participation in the ongoing 79th session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79), Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has held “a productive bilateral meeting” with Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in New York, United States (US).

ConsumerConnect reports the discussions centered on aligning efforts and exploring strategic areas of collaboration in capacity building, cybersecurity and digital transformation.

NITDA, in a blog note Tuesday, September 24, 2024, also disclosed Inuwa shared the agency’s ongoing initiatives in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation and developmental regulation.

The Director-General of NITDA also stressed the need for closer collaboration with ITU in order to achieve shared goals for Information Technology (IT) development in the West African country’s digital ecosystem.

It is recalled Inuwa on Monday, had participated in the Summit of the Future session at the UNGA79, in the US.

The NITDA Chief Executive, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Tuesday, also served as a panelist at a forum titled, “Digital Transformation in Africa: Jumping Ten Years in One”, jointly hosted by the Consulate of Denmark in New York, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and cBrain.

The agency noted that the panel centered on government-led digital transformation initiatives, best practices, importance of private sector partnerships, and how digital technologies could enable Africa to leap ahead into the future, with the continent identified as the next frontier for the global workforce.

“Inuwa also shared insights from NITDA’s digital transformation efforts, highlighting valuable lessons that could guide other African nations in driving sustainable digital growth,” stated the agency.
